Large scrapping projects undertaken by RRT include: The Golden Bay Cement Works in Tarakohe, Burnside Cement Works in Dunedin, the Canterbury Malt Works and Lyttelton container cranes and dry dock door & Mataura Paper Mill.
RRT has secured contracts with large corporations in relation to the scrapping of surplus assets and plant decommissioning. Included in this category is a long-term contract with Telecom. RRT is responsible for the decommissioning and dismantling of Telecom's older telephone exchanges. This contract has been ongoing for a number of years and RRT has established itself as a leader in the field of telecommunication equipment and plant recycling. It has created markets in China and Pakistan for defunct telecommunications equipment.
